Kawasaki Z650SR Fuel Mix
Question:I was told this bike had an air corrector kit fitted with the K&N filters. I find it fires up ok though does not like choke for long. It ticks over ok and pulls well at lower revs but once u get to mid range and above it just gurgles and will only pull about 60 miles per hour.
I've turned in the air and fuel mix screws and turned them out only half a turn where they were about one and a half turns out. Its made an improvement. Also, the plugs were rather black before so do u think its getting too much fuel at higher revs and not enough air.? {Shane,UK Kawasaki Z650SR with K & N filters)Answer:If your Z650 has K&N air filters but no jetting, you are short on fuel supply at higher RPMs. Check out Carburetor Jetting, page 1 and page 2 to find out what size main jet you have, then increase the # by 5. Take it for a test ride. The holding back that you are experiencing should lessen.
