Honda Engine Code

Question:

Hello, I have just engine by Honda. Like a Honda XL 125 R/L 1985 but I’m not shure. The engine code is HI-JC06E. What is the model of bike? Thank you. {Kristijan, Slovenia - Unknown Honda Engine}

Answer:

We do not have a lot of information on the European issued Hondas. From what I can determine, this code is the designation for a CB125. It is either a CB125T, CB125TD or CB125TT.

The XL and CB bikes have very similar engine and drive trains. It is the mainly styling and suspension that are different. The CB models are street bikes and the XL is an enduro type bike, meant to ride off-road, but with lights and turn signals for road use also.

For a more comprehensive list of European Honda VINs for 125 cc bikes, you can visit here. The VIN contains the same code as the engine number.

CMS Japanese Motorcycle Supply Parts web site has online parts fiche and schematics of many European CB125 models including those sold in France, Germany, Switzerland, England and Belgium, as well as those designated as General Export and European Direct Sales.
